Mt. PALOMAR KENNEL CLUB HISTORY AND PURPOSE

Mt. Palomar K.C.was founded in the mid-seventies to serve residents of North San Diego County in the promotion and preservation of interest in the Pure Bred dogs, both in conformation and obedience. The original matches were held in Rancho Bernardo and then in 1981 the first All-Breed Conformation and Obedience Trial was held in Ramona, sanctioned by the A.K.C. In 1994, then President, Jim Eberhardt and the members of the club voted to move the shows to Rancho Buena Vista High School, located in Vista. In 2009 it was decided to move the shows to Valley Center and the Bates Nut Farm where we now conduct our shows and matches.

We conduct six meetings per year in the San Marcos area and the board meetings are held at the Presidents home at the current time. Over the years we have be obliged to do away with Obedience because of lack of members interested and the problem of room at our show grounds.

We have donated some of our proceeds from various shows to scholarships for the High School, and also providing Kevlar vests to the Sherriff’s K-9 unit.  Membership information can be obtained by contacting our Secretary or our President.
